Start With the Coffee You Want Ready Tomorrow

The OXO Brew Compact Cold Brew Coffee Maker is worth considering when you want a small batch of concentrate to dilute as you serve it. Choose the 11237500 model if you can prepare ahead, reserve a place for brewing and handle some hand washing. If you need coffee immediately, this batch process does not solve that problem. Keeping a method that already gives you coffee you enjoy is also a reasonable decision.

This is a guide to fit and manufacturer instructions, checked September 10, 2026. We have not tested flavor, filtration, leak resistance or durability. The practical question is whether the work happens at a convenient point in your day. Think about when you would start a batch, when you could drain it, and where its separate parts would live between those steps.

Read the 24 oz Figure as Input, Not Your Finished Drink

OXO's recipe uses 6 oz (175 g) of coarsely ground coffee and 24 oz of water, with an approximate yield of 16 oz of concentrate. The water poured into the brewer and the concentrate collected afterward are different quantities. OXO suggests diluting one part concentrate with two or three parts water or milk. A carafe of concentrate therefore is not the same thing as a carafe of ready-to-drink coffee.

Plan around your own serving rather than a headline cup count. As a simple arithmetic example, a 2 oz concentrate portion combined with 4 oz of water makes 6 oz before ice or other additions. That example is not a measured yield from our kitchen. If several people want large drinks at once, consider how quickly your preferred portions would use the batch and whether making another batch fits the same routine.

Leave Time and Space for Brewing, Then Draining

The Compact manual specifies 12–24 hours on the counter or 20–24 hours in the refrigerator. Once brewing is complete, placing the brewing container on its matching glass carafe starts draining automatically. Those stages need different arrangements: the resting container has to fit where you brew, and the assembled container above the carafe needs an accessible place when you drain.

For example, if you choose the refrigerator method and begin at 8 p.m., its stated brewing window reaches 4–8 p.m. the next day. That scheduling example shows why an overnight start does not automatically mean breakfast coffee. Check whether someone will be available to handle the next step. We have not measured working clearance, so do not use the word compact as a guarantee that the assembled brewer will fit a particular shelf.

Nesting Helps Storage; Cleanup Still Has Separate Rules

OXO describes a reusable stainless-steel mesh filter and a nesting design for storage. These features are relevant if you want to put the brewer away between batches. Keep a place for the carafe, container and lid while they are in use as well as when nested. Storage convenience is useful only if taking the parts out, draining and putting them away feels manageable to you.

The manual makes the glass carafe dishwasher-safe and calls for hand washing the cork lid and all other parts. The base and filter come apart for cleaning. On reassembly, follow the manual's gasket position, tightening and alignment marks. This is a maintenance requirement, not evidence that the product cannot leak. Decide whether that small-parts cleaning and reassembly step is something you want after each batch.

Choose the Exact Compact Model if the Routine Fits

The best reason to choose this model is that its concentrate batch and preparation schedule match how you drink coffee. If your current setup already does that comfortably, there is no need to replace it simply for the nesting feature. If timing or batch size remains awkward, pause the purchase and settle those requirements before comparing more brewers.
